Winners of the OFC Champions League 2019

The New Caledonian Club, Hienghene Sport, is the first team we come up against at the 2020 OFC Champions League Qualifiers in February and arguably, the strongest team in the pool.

The club only being founded in 1997, have grown to now a community of 1800 members. Hienghene Sport also has experience in professional competitions like this one. In 2019 they took out the title of the OFC Champions League, becoming the second club ever that’s not from Australia or New Zealand to compete in the FIFA Club World Cup. At the cup, they faced the hosts, Qatari side, Al Sadd in the playoff round. Despite their efforts of taking them to extra time, Al Sadd knocked them out of the tournament after scoring twice in extra time. Hienghene were eliminated 3-1.

Hienghene Sport has had other professional honours domestically winning the New Caledonia Super League twice and the New Caledonia Cup three times. This team will be a force!
