‘Do one!’ – Gary Neville tells Paul Pogba to follow Jose Mourinho out of Manchester United. Gary Neville has told Paul Pogba to ‘do one as well’ following Jose Mourinho’s dismissal at Manchester United.

The Red Devils ended Mourinho’s two-and-a-half year stay at Old Trafford after a dismal start to the season and Michael Carrick is among the candidates to take over as caretaker boss until the end of the campaign.

Less than an hour after the news broke, Pogba hinted at the bad blood between him and Mourinho, uploading a jovial post to Instagram with the words ‘caption this’.

The France midfielder, who has had numerous bust-ups with Mourinho in public and in private, immediately deleted the picture but not before United fans got hold of it.

Pogba was dropped from United starting XI in recent weeks and did not even make it off the bench during Sunday’s 3-1 defeat to Liverpool – Mourinho’s final match in charge of the club.

Responding to Pogba’s cryptic, Neville tweeted: ‘“Caption This“’ You do one as well!’

In the wake of Mourinho’s sacking, Neville urged United to ‘reset’ from top to bottom.

‘Recruitment over the last few years been erratic, the current management team have had three chances of appointing a manager – and they’re probably going to get a fourth,’ he said on Sky Sports.

‘My personal view is that the club needs to reset, it’s not just a moment to sack Mourinho.

‘This is a moment for the club to take stock of what they’re doing, to reset the structure in terms of recruitment, in terms of the football decision making at the club and make sure that what they do next is the right move.

Asked who should succeed Mourinho, Neville replied: ‘I said last season that for me it should be Mauricio Pochettino, not just because of what he’s done at Tottenham.

‘Look at United’s values – belief in young players at Southampton and Tottenham, performance levels, style of play, how he [Pochettino] carries himself publicly and privately.

‘I’ve spent time at Spurs’ training ground and he’s the ideal candidate. They’ve tried managers who have won European cups, won the league.

‘The three key principles should be promotion of youth, entertaining football and winning football matches.’
