Full transcript of Paul Pogba’s first big interview since Jose Mourinho was sacked. Paul Pogba gave his first sit-down interview since Jose Mourinho was sacked by Manchester United after being named as the club’s Player of the Month for December.

The World Cup winner lost his place in the United starting XI in the latter weeks of Mourinho’s ill-fated reign, though has been in sensational form since Ole Gunnar Solskjaer took charge.

Pogba – who has resumed training with the rest of the squad at their warm-weather camp in Dubai – is thoroughly enjoying his football once again and is hopeful their winning run can continue.

Here’s the full transcript…

How does it feel to be named United’s Player of the Month?

‘Obviously it’s always good. For the last month before that I wasn’t playing a lot so just being back on the pitch, playing, enjoying with the guys, obviously it’s always good. It’s good for me and I enjoy playing football and I enjoy being with the guys.’

What was your favourite goal in December?

‘The header [against Bournemouth]. It’s not my best attribute I would say, but yeah the header. The timing was good, the cross was good. It was a good goal.’

Enjoying your time in Dubai?

‘To be honest, it’s great. I came later to join the team and now the weather is lovely, obviously. The training, good conditions, we’re just enjoying a little break from England – the English weather! But then when we come back we have fresh mind, fresh air, and come back to focus more.’

How beneficial to train in this environment?

‘Obviously we don’t get this weather a lot in Manchester so obviously to get this weather – some Vitamin D – it’s always good to get it. It’s good for the health when you see the sun, the beach and everything. It’s relaxing.’

High intensity sessions set you up for rest of the season?

‘Yeah for sure. We came here not on holiday, we came here to work. Obviously the training is intense and we’re preparing for a big game so we need to be ready.’

Even the small-sided games are super competitive?

‘For sure. We play to win, that’s how I grew up, to win. And when you lose, you accept it but… I’m still mad.’

How confident is the group?

‘Obviously it’s always good to win. We are a team that at the start of the season wasn’t the best so having five wins in a row is always good for the head. And we are Manchester United, so that should be a basic thing for us. But obviously we know that the Premier League is hard and we have a lot of games but those five games give us as well confidence. Mentally we are ready, we are strong and for the rest of the season we just want to do the same and carry on like that.’
