It’s been a nightmare start to the season for Jose Mourinho and Manchester United. Following their opening day victory at home to Leicester, Mourinho’s side have only picked up a further seven points from their previous six league encounters. They’ve also been dumped out of the Carabao Cup by Championship side Derby, while Tuesday’s 0-0 draw with Valencia in the Champions League was pretty awful. But the problems behind-the-scenes at Old Trafford are making more headlines than the results. Mourinho has fallen out with numerous first-team players with the likes of Paul Pogba, Anthony Martial and even club captain Antonio Valencia clashing with the Portuguese boss. And now, United chiefs have had enough.According to the Mirror, Mourinho is “set to be sacked this weekend. ” Mourinho’s side host Newcastle on Saturday evening but “senior United sources have told Mirror Sport he has reached the point of no return, with the axe ready to fall whatever the outcome of Saturday’s match against Newcastle. ” Romelu Lukaku to score first vs Newcastle (3/1)* Many United fans might well be relieved but one man that didn’t appear too happy after seeing the report was Gary Neville. Neville was on punditry duties as Brighton beat West Ham 1-0 and, after the match, was asked about the prospect of Mourinho being sacked this weekend. And his rant was nothing short of incredible.Neville blamed the board at the club, rather than Mourinho, for all of the problems and admitted that he’s “fuming” at how the manager has been treated. “To be honest with you, I’m furious,” he began.”It’s unacceptable, I have to say that Jose Mourinho will get the biggest support he’s ever had in his life tomorrow I think in that ground – and I’ll be there to give it to him,” Neville went on to say.
