Ian Rush has expertly explained how Sadio Mane’s run of goals is largely due to opposition players doubling up on Mo Salah, who doesn’t deserve the criticism he’s received in any way, shape or form.

//pagead2.googlesyndication.com/pagead/js/adsbygoogle.js

(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push();

(function ($)
var bsaProContainer = $(‘.bsaProContainer-1’);
var number_show_ads = “0”;
var number_hide_ads = “0”;
if ( number_show_ads > 0 )
setTimeout(function () bsaProContainer.fadeIn(); , number_show_ads * 1000);

if ( number_hide_ads > 0 )
setTimeout(function () bsaProContainer.fadeOut(); , number_hide_ads * 1000);

)(jQuery);

Salah has 20 goals this season, but has only one in ten, which is his most barren goalscoring run since he signed from AS Roma in 2018.

Mane also has 20, but 11 of those have come in the last 11 games!

if ( number_hide_ads > 0 )

Liverpool though are undefeated in that time and Salah’s influence on us offensively has still been mightily impressive – perhaps most notably in our superb 3-1 victory against Bayern Munich.

“Last season, for me, Mo was the best player in the world. I would even put him above [Lionel] Messi and [Cristiano] Ronaldo last season because the English league is the hardest to play in and he was fantastic,” Rush told the Times.

“This year there have been two people marking him. The one who has benefited has probably been [Sadio] Mané.

“Mané is scoring goals and in a rich vein of form [11 in his past 11 games in all competitions]. So what do teams do now? Do they double up on him? Because that could then free Mo again.

“He is being judged on last season, but he is doing well and it is only a matter of time before he scores again. When he does, it could be the perfect boost for the title run-in.”

Salah didn’t join up with Egypt on international duty and has enjoyed a well-earned break while his team-mates have been competing for their countries.

As a result, we’re backing him to start firing at the season’s most crucial point. Liverpool play Spurs on Sunday, before travelling to Southampton the Friday afterwards. Then it’s Porto, Chelsea, Porto and Cardiff in quick succession.
