John McGinn insists Aston Villa need to stay humble after admitting that they got carried away with their previous run of good form.

var bsaProContainer = $(‘.bsaProContainer-1’);
var number_show_ads = “0”;
var number_hide_ads = “0”;
if ( number_show_ads > 0 )
setTimeout(function () bsaProContainer.fadeIn(); , number_show_ads * 1000);

if ( number_hide_ads > 0 )
setTimeout(function () bsaProContainer.fadeOut(); , number_hide_ads * 1000);

)(jQuery);

Three wins on the spin has propelled the claret and blues back into the play-off picture after a previous run of just two wins in 15 games.

Reflecting on the form from earlier this season when Villa beat Derby, Blues and Middlesbrough, the Scot said:

var params =

var qs = Object.keys(params).reduce(function(a, k) a.push(k + ‘=’ + encodeURIComponent(params[k])); return a,[]).join(String.fromCharCode(38));
var s = d.createElement(‘script’); s.type=’text/javascript’;s.async=true;
var p = ‘https:’ == document.location.protocol ? ‘https’ : ‘http’;
s.src = p + “://api.content-ad.net/Scripts/widget2.aspx?” + qs;
d.getElementById(“contentad609605”).appendChild(s);
)(document);

if ( number_hide_ads > 0 )
setTimeout(function () bsaProContainer.fadeOut(); , number_hide_ads * 1000);

)(jQuery);

“After those games perhaps we started thinking subconsciously it is easier than it is.

“We are wary of that spell we had in the autumn when we maybe started getting a little carried away.

McGinn’s deadly double helped Villa to a 3-1 win over Nottingham Forest at the City Ground on Wednesday night.

And he admits he needs to start scoring more goals in the final eight games of the season.

McGinn also feels that Villa are starting to click but refused to get too excited with the third consecutive win.

“We now look a team with such attacking intent and having Jack (Grealish) back is massive difference.

“I am sure no-one will want to play us at the minute because of the confidence we are playing with.

“I think everyone is working just that little bit harder.

“We also weren’t getting some breaks which we probably are getting now.

“Forest had a disallowed goal on Wednesday and those were the kind of breaks going against us.

“We are creating a few more chances and being clinical.

“Hopefully we can carry that on. We won’t be getting ahead of ourselves.

“Teams know we have a bit of momentum.

John McGinn of Aston Villa in action during a training session.

“They won’t be looking forward to playing us but at the same time we have to keep working hard.”

Asked about the Middlesbrough game on Saturday, the midfielder added:

“It is huge. Middlesbrough lost on Wednesday night so they will be looking over their shoulder a bit.

“Every time we are at home we need to perform and get a victory.

“Overall we have been pretty strong at Villa Park.

“If we can carry that on we might end up sneaking in the play-off places.”
