Jose Mourinho was sacked as Manchester United manager Tuesday morning after a succession of poor results left the club in sixth position in the league.  The Portuguese had to deal with a significant amount of media scrutiny regarding squad morale and Mourinho’s questionable style of play.  His reign came to a close after a very disappointment 3-1 defeat to arch-rivals Liverpool, where Klopp’s side had 36 shots to United’s six.  It was a reign that started with such promise back in 2016 with Mourinho’s first two signings Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Eric Bailly proving an instant hit – until Bailly’s injury problems – and United winning two trophies in the ‘Special One’ ‘s first season.  However, things turned sour rather quickly and another major signing in Paul Pogba was seemingly a catalyst behind Mourinho’s demise.  Now that the dust has settled on his departure and Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has taken charge as caretaker manager until the end of the season, Mourinho has finally spoken on the situation.  The ex-Chelsea boss had initially been hassled by Sky Sports for an interview while he was walking to Battersea from his London home.  He simply said: “I have nothing to say.”  It seems Mourinho is as content as you can be after being let go from your position, but he has bounced back on many occasions, so do not expect anything less.  Betting odds are already in on who is likely to be Mourinho’s new venture with old club Inter Milan and National side Portugal currently at the top of the list to be Jose’s next destination.  Mourinho will leave behind at least two players who were fond of him right until the end, as Romelu Lukaku and Nemanja Matic had both backed the manager to stay.  But after signing a new lucrative contract in January, Mourinho leaves the club with a sizable sum of money as an early Christmas present.
