It took 21 Premier League games, but Liverpool’s unbeaten run is no more.  Champions Manchester City shaded it at the Etihad, winning 2-1 on Thursday to close the gap at the top of the Premier League to four points.  The best chance of the first half for the Reds came when Sadio Mane’s effort trickled back off the post before John Stones hammered the clearance straight at goalkeeper Ederson.  The ball was threatening to bounce over the line before Stones eventually cleared his lines entirely, with goal-line technology confirming the ball hadn’t crossed the line.   Eleven millimeters stood between Liverpool and a 1-0 lead before the hosts eventually broke the deadlock later in the half.   Sergio Aguero blasted the home side in front on 40 minutes to give City a 1-0 lead at the break .  The Reds responded through Roberto Firmino’s second-half header, but it was Leroy Sane who rattled a shot off the post to give the hosts the lead once more.
