The 38-year-old is currently coaching in Finland and has passed an MBA in Sports Management and done his UEFA A licence.

It’s all about building for his next step.

We spoke to the Blues legend in March 2017 – and this is what he said when asked about a career in management.

The Forssell interview March 2017

“I am really interested in becoming a manager one day,” he told the Birmingham Mail.

)(jQuery);

“Would I like to come back and manage Birmingham? That would be my dream. I have a clear way I want to play – aggressively, with intensity and a high tempo.

“In the next couple of years I will hopefully do my badges and see what opportunities arise, starting by becoming a second coach and develop from there.

“I will try to create a team like that first Birmingham team I played in. They pressed the ball very high and played with a real intensity – I believe that’s the way football should be played.”

It created a lasting impression on the Finn.

“I spent a lot of time with good guys like Matty Upson, I went to the Bullring – where I’ve a lot of fond memories. One of my best mates still is a barrister working in Birmingham.

“I still look out for them every week, obviously I played with Gianfranco Zola and followed Gary Rowett and the way he worked at Blues.”
