Roy Keane and Gary Neville criticise Jesse Lingard for launching clothing brand before Liverpool clash. Both Roy Keane and Gary Neville have criticised Jesse Lingard’s decision to launch his clothing range in the week before Manchester United’s Premier League clash with Liverpool.

The United squad were out in full force last Sunday night for the launch of Lingard’s ‘JLingz’ fashion label, with the likes of Romelu Lukaku, Paul Pogba and Luke Shaw spotted at the Peter Street Kitchen venue.

But Old Trafford legend Neville felt the event was poorly timed, just a few days before the trip to Anfield, while Keane says it hints at a poor dressing room environment.

‘I think, earlier on this week, you talk about players and characters, I actually like Jesse Lingard, so I’ve got no problem with him,’ Neville explained on Sky Sports.

‘I’ve got no problem with him launching a clothing range, to be honest with you. But before Liverpool away, in the biggest game of the season, don’t launch a clothes brand. Not this week. Do it before Fulham.

Virgil van Dijk explains why Mohamed Salah isn’t celebrating when he scores

‘I’m not having a go at him for his character because players should do other things, have other careers, but you just see that little thing and you think: not this week. Concentrate on Liverpool. No distractions. No disruptions.’

Keane chimed in, adding: ‘If there was a good strong dressing room that wouldn’t be tolerated. That’s why I worry about the United dressing room.

‘That wouldn’t be tolerated in a good dressing room, for a young player who is still learning his trade – and he could be the nicest kid in the world, I don’t know the lad. But if you’re coming out with all that nonsense, and people say you should have other stuff outside football, I don’t think you should.

‘Football should be your number one priority. It should be. Focus on the game, don’t hide behind your cars or your tattoos or your girlfriends or your agents. Play the game. And you can do all that stuff when you retire.’
