Spain have beaten New Zealand for the first time in men’s rugby with a 26-24 victory in the World Rugby Sevens Series in Vancouver.
New Zealand had taken a 12-point lead after Joe Ravouvou and Andrew Knewstubb scored tries, but efforts from Ignacio Rodriguez Guerra and Joan Losada, both converted by Francisco Hernandez, put the Spaniards in front.

This win wasn’t enough for Spain to progress to the second round, but beating the All Blacks will have meant a lot to the players and highlights the progress being made by Spanish rugby.
