Caster Semenya, a DSD or intersex athlete, has not only tested for high testosterone levels, but was also born with XY chromosomes. Despite her 2016 Olympic win, the IAAF recently ruled that Semenya can no longer compete in some women’s competitions, much like athlete Dutee Chand. Vox says these testosterone tests are unfair and arbitrary, and that testosterone doesn’t affect athletic performance that much.
