After a scoreless first half, Benfica got the scoring going early in the second half. In the 49’ Pizzi put away a penalty chance to push Benfica out to a 1-0 lead. Then in the 66’ Benfica had yet another penalty chance, converting it for the second goal of the match, this one coming by way of Waldschmidt. In the 76’ Pizzi added an insurance goal for Benfica pushing their lead to 3-0. Benfica would hold on to win 3-0 over Standard Liege in Group D action.
