In a back and forth game from the beginning, Rangers came out with the wine and the three points in Group D action over Standard Liege.

Standard Liege opened the scoring early on with a Lestienne goal in the 6’ and they held on to that lead for a large portion of the match’s first half. Then in the 39’ Goldson found the back of the net for Rangers to level it up. Two minutes later though, Standard Liege reclaimed its lead with a Cop goal. And right before the half, Tavernier levelled it right back up Rangers with a penalty goal in the 45’+1.

The second half saw a lot less scoring and Rangers were the only one to find the back of the net in the half. Arfield scored the game winner in the 63’ which secured the 3-2 victory for Rangers. With the outcome Rangers FC sit atop Group D and standard Liege remain at the bottom.
